FAQs

How Can I Maintain My Wood Sign?

All our signs get multiple coats of fine paint and are sealed for a long lasting finish. Indoor signs are sealed with three coats of clear enamel. Outdoor signs are sealed with three coats of Marine Spar Varnish.

But weather can take its toll. To keep your outdoor sign looking fresh, give it a light sanding and 2 coats of polyurethane every 2 years.

How Can I Hang My Wood Sign?

We recommend brass screws if you are hanging your sign from a post, tree, wall or any surface. If it helps, ask us to place drill marks on the sign.

From a Tree

Consider these tree hanging tips before hanging your sign from a tree.

From a Post with Chain and Hooks

We can install brass or stainless steel eyes for you. Just ask.

We recommend using a chain that won't corrode.

  1. Cut the links at either end and bend them open with pliers (you can have the store where you purchased it open them for you).

  2. Slip the open link through the eye on each end of the chain.

  3. Close the links back up with pliers.

“S” Hook Alternative

As an alternative to opening up the chain links, you can use “S” hooks to link to the eyes. Just be sure to close the hook around the eye to secure it from slipping off.

Use Quick Links for larger signs and heavy chains.

Directly on the Wall or Smooth Surface

Use double sided tape available from most hardware stores. Be sure to use one that can handle the weight of your sign.
